Asia is one of the continents with the most high biodiversity in the world, meanwhile, the most dramatic economic growth
is cocurrently happening in this area.
The GCOE program --- Asian Conservation Ecology is intended primarily to Asia, integrating interdisciplinary concepts
of Conservational Ecology and Earth System Science; focus on research objects of Ecosystem, Species and Gene;
combing advanced research method of ground-based observation and planetary scale satellite observation to develop
human resources, particularly on the curriculum focused as following:
 

1.    Environmental economics

2.    Social psychology

3.    Global filed practicum

4.    Natural regeneration filed practicum

5.    Ibis Seminar (joint seminar of Kyushu University and The University of Tokyo)

6.    International seminar

7.    Research proposal composition

 
 

Subsidiary Courses

 

With the intention of Internationality and Interdisciplinary, we have established 3 subsidiary courses. In whether the
3 courses, our research activities is carried out in form of dividing the GCOE supervisor professors, PHD researchers

and graduated school students into research teams to our research core sites in Cambodia, China, Mongolia,

Yakushima Island/Japan, Mikatako Lake/Japan, and Ito/Japan.

Each research team draws their own research plan, through field investigation, data analysis, and a series of research

activities, the GCOE members publish papers in their own research filed as a research result.

 

 

Sub-Course 1   Global Field Investigation

 

Along with the development of economics, the requirement of natural regenerative technique is increasing promptly in

Asian countries.

The GCOE courses aim to train experts working in the field of ecological conservation and Natural regeneration in

global region.

Sub-Course 2   Natural Regeneration Facilitator

 

Since the implement of the promotion of nature regeneration, increasingly, new demand has grown in Japan. The GCOE

courses also aim to train domestic ecological experts especially for those willing to work for a NGO environmental corporation

or governmental administration.

Core site: Lake Tai, Ito (Japan)

 

 

Sub-Course 3   International Leadership Ecologist

 

The GCOE will select a part of the graduate students to participate this course, especially to those willing to orientate

themselves toward university teachers and international organization staff.
